Activision has decided to rethink its approach to player matching in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. With the release of Season 5, developers will implement an updated matchmaking system that will be more reminiscent of the principles used in older games in the series.

The official Call of Duty account announced that the team continues to study multiplayer data and player feedback received over the past year. Based on this information, a decision was made to change how match search works.

Over the past year, we have learned a lot from player data and community feedback on multiplayer matchmaking.

The decision is also related to the recent return of classic Black Ops sub-series titles to modern PlayStation consoles. The release of Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II versions for PS4 and PS5 once again sparked discussions among fans about how old games differed from modern releases.

Activision noted that player interest in the first two Black Ops showed that many elements of the classic experience are still in demand.

We are also excited to see the love for Black Ops and Black Ops II, which confirmed that there are many features of these games that players value.

Starting with Season 5 of Black Ops 7, the updated system will be used in Black Ops Classic, Quick Play, and Party Games modes. Developers promise that the game will retain open playlists, but will add more choices for players who prefer the old style of matches.

In addition, similar open matchmaking settings will appear in the upcoming beta test of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.

Activision has not yet revealed the details of the new system, so the exact changes will only become clear after practical testing.
