Delivery to the Epicenter of the Epidemic: A New Trailer for Zach Cregger's "Resident Evil" Film Has Been Released
There are six weeks left until the premiere of the new Resident Evil adaptation.
Sony Pictures has unveiled a full trailer for the "Resident Evil" reboot by "The Tools" director Zach Cregger. The new video offers a closer look at the main character – an ordinary courier, Brian (Austin Abrams), who is tasked with delivering a mysterious briefcase to a Raccoon City hospital at the very beginning of a deadly virus outbreak.
According to journalists who attended test screenings, the film is a dynamic horror with an emphasis on practical effects, monsters, and continuous action – some even called the film "Mad Max: Fury Road" of the horror world.
Zach Cregger himself has repeatedly stated that when working on "Resident Evil," he was inspired by the gameplay of the Resident Evil series, especially Resident Evil 4. However, the film will not feature familiar characters from the games, and its plot resembles a "standalone expansion," with events unfolding between Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3.
In addition to Austin Abrams, the cast includes Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, Paul Walter Hauser, and Jonno Wilson. The premiere of the new "Resident Evil" in foreign cinemas will take place on September 18, 2026.
