DC Studios has released a new trailer for "Clayface" – a body horror film about the tragic downfall of rising Hollywood star Matt Hagen. After thugs disfigure his face, the actor agrees to experimental treatment to regain his former appearance. However, the drug's side effects begin to destroy his body and mind, gradually transforming the hero into a monster.
Initially, the film was conceived as a spin-off of Matt Reeves' "The Batman," but ultimately the project was moved to James Gunn's updated cinematic universe – the first chapter titled "Gods and Monsters," which also includes "Superman," "Supergirl," and the second season of "Peacemaker."
The film is directed by James Watkins, director of "The Woman in Black." The screenplay was written by Mike Flanagan ("Doctor Sleep," "The Haunting of Hill House") and Hossein Amini ("Drive"). The lead role is played by Tom Rhys Harries ("The Gentlemen").
Earlier, actor Max Minghella, who plays one of the roles, stated that the film will not hold back in depicting body horror and will be one of DC's darkest and most brutal R-rated projects.
The film is scheduled for release in international cinemas on October 23, 2026.
