Filming of "Gundam" adaptation with Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo Concludes

In 2027, Gundam fans can look forward to three major franchise projects.

Filming of the live-action "Gundam" adaptation has concluded in Australia. This was reported by What's on Netflix, citing photos from a wrap party celebrating the end of production.

Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo starred in the main roles. They played mobile suit pilots caught on opposite sides of a long-standing war between Earth and its former space colonies. Shifting alliances and a new threat will force the rivals on a dangerous journey that will determine the fate of humanity.

Jim Mickle ("Sweet Tooth", "Cold in July") directed and wrote the project. In addition to Sweeney and Centineo, the cast included Jackson White, Shiori Kutsuna, Nonso Anozie, Michael Mando, Javon "Wanna" Walton, Alexander Rudinsky, Aida Brook, Gemma Chua-Tran, and Jason Isaacs.

The film's release on Netflix is scheduled for 2027, but the exact premiere date has not yet been announced. This is the third major Gundam project set to be released within the year. Bandai Namco is also preparing the anime Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO by director Kenji Kamiyama and the action game GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. The anime and game will be part of the overall RG Project, while the Netflix film is not narratively connected to them.
