Adria Arjona, in an interview with Collider at San Diego Comic-Con, discussed her work on DC Studios' "Superman: Legacy" and admitted that she was drawn not only to the role itself but also to the opportunity to work with Gunn and Peter Safran again. They gave her her first film role — the movie "The Belko Experiment," released in 2016:
"It's definitely about the character, but even more so, it's about the family I'm becoming a part of. James and Peter gave me my first film. I owe them my first set experience. We've known each other for about 13 years thanks to 'The Belko Experiment,' and it was an incredible experience."
However, Arjona emphasized that her acquaintance with the creators of the DCU did not guarantee her the role. According to the actress, during the casting process, Gunn and Safran treated her as strictly as they did other candidates:
"Even though we knew each other, they made me go through the whole process and earn this role."
The actress did not reveal who she will play in "Superman: Legacy." DC Studios has not yet officially announced her character, but several publications previously reported that Arjona might portray Maxima — an alien warrior and ruler of the planet Almerac.
The film is scheduled to premiere on July 9, 2027.
