"Bombora" is working on a book about Genshin Impact: from an ambitious idea to a global cultural phenomenon

In the future, "Bombora" intends to release a new book, through which readers will learn how Genshin Impact is connected with the transformation of Chinese culture and the phenomenon of fandoms, how the gacha model works, and why characters become favorites of millions.

The free-to-play adventure gacha action game Genshin Impact still has many fans who log in every day to get characters through wishes, enjoy the gameplay, and complete all sorts of quests.

Today, "Bombora" publishing house announced that it has begun work on a book about how the HoYoverse project grew from an ambitious idea into a global cultural phenomenon, which is debated even by those who haven't played it. The author of the book is Alexandra Sviridova.

Readers will learn the following:

  • What developers borrowed from other games and how it turned into a unique formula;
  • How the gacha model works and why characters become favorites of millions;
  • How Genshin Impact is connected with the transformation of Chinese culture and the phenomenon of fandoms;
  • A separate section about the Russian community: localization, fan creativity, and how the game was received here;
  • Project contradictions: monetization, player retention, and cultural disputes around individual regions.

Unfortunately, "Bombora" employees are not yet ready to announce when the book will be released and at what price it can be pre-ordered.
