Modder Shows Fallout: New Vegas Demake on TES III: Morrowind Engine

An enthusiast decided to port the Obsidian Entertainment game to another engine.

In July, Bethesda Game Studios announced several new projects for the Fallout franchise. Several full-fledged new games are in development, as well as remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.

Not only developers are working; the fan community is also buzzing with activity. Recently, gameplay footage of a Fallout: New Vegas demake went viral — a modder under the nickname astr0nic is "porting" the game into an older Bethesda Game Studios project.

This became possible thanks to OpenMW — an open-source fan-made analogue of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind engine.

This is not just "dragging locations"; in this version of Fallout: New Vegas, gameplay mechanics, including shooting, are functional, and you can switch between first-person and third-person views.

Currently, astr0nic is working on recreating mechanics and V.A.T.S — for now, it looks quite peculiar, with the target turning into a "wireframe model." Examples of gameplay can be seen at the following link.

astr0nic has not yet specified a release date; in one of the posts about "New Engine - New Adventure - New Vegas in OpenMW," he stated that it "will be out soon."
