The developers have prepared a lot of new content for the first PoE.

At the end of July, Grinding Gear Games introduced a major update for Path of Exile, "Curse of the Allflame", which added new content to the game.

The developers suggest helping the corsair captain named Valerie — she wants to retrieve treasures from the icy depths of Wraeclast's oceans. To do this, you need to find maps scattered across the world, board the Sovereign, and set sail.

The "Voyages" mechanic is available: you need to mark enough areas on the map and connect them together to create a grand expedition to the seabed. This "voyage" can be planned, for example, to visit locations with very valuable loot.

Players will have to dive to the bottom of the ocean, where lanterns, imbued with the spark of the Allflame, will protect heroes from crushing waves:

Explore the surroundings and grab what you can while you can! Lost gold, valuable chests, and lurking threats await you... When the lanterns begin to flicker and go out, you will have to hurry back to the safety of the bathysphere to escape the clawing creatures that cannot stand the light you carry.
  • Below the deck of the Sovereign, there is the "heart of the ship". Players can feed an item to it, and it will split into many ghostly variants — one of which can be kept.
  • Mercenaries return: if you defeat a mercenary in a duel, you can get an item and hire them as an ally for the rest of the area. On maps, you can request a receipt that summons that specific mercenary to a future map with the same skills but a different set of items.
  • Strange places have begun to form on the "Atlas". When a player completes maps under the influence of a "Voidstone", there is a chance for an anomaly to appear in the "Atlas" — these are areas that can be completed once, potentially yielding powerful rewards. Examples include Kadira Perandus, a mysterious merchant offering strange curiosities for your gold, or a fully revealed wing of a Heist blueprint. Many different anomalies can be encountered, each tied to a specific Atlas sector.
  • The "Abyss" has been reworked: Abyss cracks are now open and release energy into the surrounding area, affecting nearby enemies. Exterminating enemies will attract the attention of Abyss hordes. The developers also noted that Abyss gameplay is now accompanied by "more expressive sound and visual cues" that guide players through the battle. Abyss jewels and Stygian Vise can be obtained.
  • A new Ascendancy class for the Scion, "Beacon", is now available — allowing mercenaries to be permanently hired. "Beacons" can have up to 3 permanently hired mercenaries: 2 in reserve in camps and hideouts, and 1 as an active ally in combat. The equipment of these mercenaries can be changed.
  • The developers have revised Legion rewards — new Blighting Crystals can be used on unique armor, and then placed in a crystal in the Domain of Timeless Conflict to create a corrupted unique item with powerful properties transferred from a player-selected unique item. Corrupted unique items are exclusive to Legion and replace Incubators.
