"Rick and Morty" Spin-off About President Curtis Premieres on HBO Max

News 1

The animated spin-off of the cult series “Rick and Morty,” titled “President Curtis,” has officially premiered on the HBO Max streaming service. The first of ten planned episodes is already available for viewing.

Critics have given the new show a mixed reception: while the series holds a 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes (based on five reviews), it also scored 67 points on Metacritic (based on four reviews). Early viewers note that while Curtis's solo outing may not match the scale of the main show, it is still witty and amusing.

The plot centers on U.S. President Curtis and his eccentric staff. Together, they tackle insane problems that Rick Sanchez simply doesn't get around to: from interdimensional diplomacy and cryptid hunting to battling paranormal anomalies. In addition to Keith David, Stephanie Beatriz (“Twisted Metal”) and Jim Rash (“Community”) have joined the voice cast.

Adult Swim is so confident in the project's success that it officially renewed “President Curtis” for a second season even before its premiere – the creative team led by Dan Harmon announced this at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. Production of new episodes has already begun.
