"He sincerely believes he's a hero": Kevin Feige talks about Doctor Doom's character in the new "Avengers" movie

News 1

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige revealed Victor von Doom's motivation in "Avengers: Doctor Doom." In an interview with TheMovieReporter, the producer said that the antagonist, played by Robert Downey Jr., sincerely believes himself to be a hero capable of saving the multiverse.

Feige also called Doctor Doom the prototype of modern supervillains and suggested that the character, created in 1962, might have even influenced the image of Darth Vader:

"For comic book readers, Doctor Doom is the prototype of all supervillains. Was Darth Vader inspired by Doctor Doom? Possibly. He is distinguished not only by his iconic look and mask, which 6000 people in Hall H wore today. More important is who Victor is inside: his flaws, pride, genius, warmth, and sincere belief that he is a hero and will save us all. That's what attracts me to him. I'm very excited that Robert Downey will play him in 'Doctor Doom.'"

The film's plot will revolve around the clash of several universes. Heroes who previously existed in different cinematic universes will meet in one story:

"As comic book fans know, the plot of 'Doctor Doom,' leading to 'Secret Wars,' is dedicated to the clash of universes. Characters who previously lived in their own cinematic worlds will collide with each other and with our universe. This may be the most ambitious and exciting film we have ever created."

Feige also promised an unexpected finale, after which it will be difficult for viewers to wait for the sequel. The premiere of "Avengers: Doctor Doom" will take place on December 18, 2026, and "Avengers: Secret Wars" will be released a year later - on December 17, 2027.
