"King of Trees": Vin Diesel Again Hints at Solo Groot Spin-off Development

News 0

The unchanging voice of Groot, Vin Diesel, has once again intrigued Marvel Cinematic Universe fans, hinting at the possible development of a solo project about the tree-like alien. On social media, the actor posted an image of the character and mentioned the working title of the potential film – "King of Trees," dedicated to Groot's return to his home planet X.

Diesel has been talking for several years about his desire to release a separate film about Groot. According to the actor, he is inspired by stories in the spirit of "The Hobbit" and is personally involved in writing the script for Disney. Back in June, Diesel shared his thoughts on long production cycles, comparing the journey of "Fast & Furious" to the creation of "The Lord of the Rings," and again mentioned "King of Trees":

"My father gave me some visionary advice that I keep coming back to: 'Finish what you start.' People think Tolkien just poured Middle-earth onto paper. Not at all... It took him 17 years. Our saga took 10 years longer, and we're still in progress. Several works are currently in development... including 'King of Trees.' Some say Groot is Disney's most valuable asset. Slow is okay. The main thing is not to give up."

Marvel Studios has not yet officially confirmed the development of "King of Trees." After the completion of the "Guardians of the Galaxy" trilogy, Groot only appears in the short animated series "I Am Groot."

In parallel, Diesel is focused on filming the finale of his main racing franchise: the eleventh installment, titled "Fast Forever," is officially scheduled for release on March 17, 2028.
