Players believe a remaster of the mystical shooter Wolfenstein will be released after 17 years
Some players have been waiting for a re-release of the Raven Software project for a long time.
Modern installments of the Wolfenstein franchise: The New Order and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus were enjoyed by many players, but some would also like to see the 2009 game back on sale.
Back then, Raven Software, id Software, and Activision presented Wolfenstein — a shooter with mystical elements. The game has long been out of print, but recently players remembered it again.
Users noticed that new entries appeared in the SteamDB database this summer: there are mentions of Steam Deck compatibility, and developers removed the release date "August 10, 2009." Meanwhile, the Wolfenstein (2009) page had previously been removed from the Valve store.
Some players speculate that Microsoft (Xbox) is planning to re-release Wolfenstein 2009 soon. Previously, some classic shooters have received similar re-releases, such as the first installments of the Quake franchise, and the DOOM + DOOM II collection also appeared.
They were presented as a "shadow drop," meaning they were shown at a presentation and immediately released — without a preliminary marketing campaign. Rumor has it that Nightdive Studios is responsible for updating Wolfenstein (2009).
