A secret that Marvel Studios had carefully guarded for almost two years was revealed just days before the film's release. During the red carpet broadcast of the world premiere of "Spider-Man: A New Day," musician Steve Lacy named the character played by Sadie Sink.
Answering the host's question about his favorite character in the film, Lacy ignored the warning about possible spoilers and stated directly:
"Jean. I like Jean. She's a villain, but there's a reason for her madness. I like her character."
Thus, Lacy effectively confirmed months of rumors that the "Stranger Things" star played the role of Jean Grey. And, according to Lacy, in the new "Spider-Man," she will indeed appear as an antagonist.
"Spider-Man: A New Day" will be released worldwide on July 31, 2026. In Russia, the film is expected on August 20.
