At Comic-Con 2026, Marvel Studios officially announced that Ryan Gosling will play Ghost Rider in a new solo film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor's wife, Eva Mendes, reacted to the news on social media, connecting it to her own history: in the 2007 film "Ghost Rider," she played Roxanne Simpson — Johnny Blaze's love interest, portrayed by Nicolas Cage.
Mendes posted an excerpt from the film "The Place Beyond the Pines" (2012), where she met Gosling during filming, and captioned it "With Love, Roxy" — from the perspective of her character from "Ghost Rider."
Shawn Levy ("Deadpool & Wolverine") will direct the new "Ghost Rider." The film is scheduled to premiere in 2028.
