Director and screenwriter Mike Flanagan ("The Haunting of Hill House", "Midnight Mass") has joined the work on the Warhammer 40,000 cinematic universe. Games Workshop announced the director's involvement in its latest financial report.
Flanagan has already completed preliminary plot outlines and will soon begin writing the full screenplay. The creators have not yet disclosed whether the first Warhammer 40,000 project will be a film or a series.
United Artists has been brought into the project, which, along with Vertigo, Amazon, and Henry Cavill, is developing the film franchise. Earlier, media reported that the actor carefully monitors the adherence to the Warhammer 40,000 canon and pays close attention to the details of the universe. Cavill personally controls the smallest details — from the color scheme of the armor of specific Space Marine chapters to the correct use of terminology in High Gothic, preventing any attempts to simplify or "modernize" the grim universe.
