Preparation for "Avengers: Secret Wars" is in full swing - the Russo brothers shared details

Filming for "Avengers: Secret Wars" will begin soon. The Russo brothers revealed this in an interview with Collider after the Marvel Studios presentation at San Diego Comic-Con 2026.

Currently, the directors are focused on completing "Avengers: Doctor Doom." The team is working on the final cut, sound mixing, and Alan Silvestri's music, while simultaneously preparing for the production of the next installment:

"We are fully immersed in finishing 'Doctor Doom.' We're working on the final touches, the music, sound mixing, and Alan Silvestri's original compositions. Just wait until you hear what he's prepared for Doom. At the same time, we're preparing 'Secret Wars.' It's a challenging but incredibly exciting period in our lives right now."

Anthony Russo did not reveal the exact start date for filming, only stating: "Soon. So soon that we're already a little nervous."

The directors indeed have an extremely tight schedule. The premiere of "Avengers: Doctor Doom" is set for December 18, 2026, and "Secret Wars" is scheduled to be released just a year later – on December 17, 2027. For a project of this scale, a year and a half for production seems like an extremely compressed timeframe: the team will have to work with a large number of characters, complex staging, and a huge volume of visual effects.

Such a schedule might indicate that Marvel could have prepared some material for "Secret Wars" in advance during the production of "Doctor Doom," but the studio has not officially confirmed this.
