Nintendo wants you to buy a second console. The company has a plan

Miyamoto said that Nintendo wants to make it normal for families to own multiple generations of consoles simultaneously.

Nintendo is preparing for a future where players will not abandon old consoles after new models are released. Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Mario and The Legend of Zelda, said that the company would like to make it common for multiple generations of Nintendo devices to be present in one household.

In an interview with Famitsu magazine, he noted that this approach benefits both players and developers. Thanks to the common architecture of Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, studios will be able to more easily release games for both platforms at once, without creating completely different versions.

According to Miyamoto, many families already own several Nintendo consoles. In the future, users who need maximum performance will choose Switch 2, while others will be able to continue playing on the first Switch.

Nintendo expects both systems to coexist for a long time. This will allow developers to decide whether to release projects only for the new device or to cover several generations at once.
