Halo: Campaign Evolved on PC Gets Local Split-Screen Co-op, But Not Thanks to Halo Studios

News 0

Despite Halo: Campaign Evolved having just been released, enthusiasts have already found a way to unlock one of the missing features of the PC version. Less than a day after its release, modders released two modifications that allow playing in local split-screen co-op.

Notably, the developers wouldn't even have had to create this mode from scratch. As it turned out, split-screen support is already present in the PC version of the game. The files contain mode configurations, player login interface, split-screen interface options, visual effects, and audio settings. The only thing missing is the ability to enable the feature through the in-game menu.

The first mod essentially just activates existing in-game code, providing access to local co-op without any significant changes.

The second modification offers a more advanced option. In addition to unlocking split-screen, it adds independent armor and weapon customization for the second player, separate customization parameters, support for co-op play using a keyboard and mouse for one player and a controller for the other, fixes issues with the pause menu and the second player's interface, and also allows changing their displayed name.
