After a mixed reaction to the Onimusha: Way of the Sword demo, which players criticized for being too easy, Capcom has revealed new details about the difficulty system in the full version of the game. As it turns out, the developers are preparing not only the usual presets but also a more fine-tuned adjustment of individual parameters.
Project producer Akihito Kadowaki told Game Informer that the team aims to create "the pinnacle of the sword-fighting action genre," but at the same time wants to make the game comfortable for both veterans and newcomers.
According to Kadowaki, the game will feature Story and Action modes, as well as the ability to further modify difficulty parameters. The developers call this system modular: players will not just be able to choose one of the ready-made options, but also customize the gameplay in more detail.
Capcom expects that this approach will help attract a wider audience. The studio notes that many action game buyers do not reach the end precisely because they face too high a level of difficulty. Flexible settings should allow everyone to find a comfortable balance between challenge and enjoyment of the playthrough.
Earlier, Kadowaki had already confirmed that the final version of Onimusha: Way of the Sword would be noticeably more difficult than the presented demo, but at that time, it was not specified how this would be implemented. Now it has become known that players will be able to independently adjust the degree of difficulty, rather than being limited to fixed levels.
