Gameplay of the Chinese "Call of Duty killer" - the shooter The Defiant about resistance to the Japanese invasion - has been shown
In late July, players were reminded of The Defiant from the Chinese studio "Haotang Keji" again. IGN journalists published a preview with a selection of gameplay footage.
The Defiant is a single-player story-driven shooter set during the Sino-Japanese War (1937 – 1945). The project consists of four main chapters, which cover a "significant period" of the war. Each of them will be dedicated to different soldiers and locations, and the gameplay will also differ.
For example, in one chapter, players will be offered to become a Chinese spy and travel to the neon-lit streets of Shanghai to gather intelligence on the Japanese army. The hero will rely on stealth and have to solve puzzles. In another chapter, players will have to sabotage railway tracks to paralyze the enemy's supply lines.
The playable characters themselves are fictional, but the battles they participate in are based on real historical events. The developers conducted research to accurately recreate the locations.
You can add The Defiant to your Steam wishlist via the following link. The developers have not yet announced a release date or window. The shooter will be released not only on PC but also on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
