Javier Bardem, who returned to the role of Stilgar in Denis Villeneuve's concluding part of the trilogy, "Dune: Part Three," shared his impressions of working on the film. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor stated that the film will go far beyond Frank Herbert's novel "Dune Messiah" and will offer viewers something extraordinary:
"It's going to be a masterpiece. Denis is really aiming to go much further than in the previous film – just as he did with the second part compared to the first. Those who have read 'Dune Messiah' know the plot, but the film will go far beyond it. Viewers can expect a real celebration and something absolutely extraordinary."
The third part is officially based on "Dune Messiah" – the second novel in Frank Herbert's cycle. However, Bardem's words suggest that Villeneuve either used material from the next book – "Children of Dune" – or prepared his own conclusion to the trilogy.
In "Dune: Part Three," Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, and Anya Taylor-Joy will return to their roles. Robert Pattinson, who plays Scytale, also joined the cast. The film is scheduled to premiere on December 18, 2026.
