Joker Emerges from the Shadows: "Batman: Caped Crusader" Season Two Released on Prime Video

The Dark Knight must once again confront Gotham's most dangerous criminals.

The second season of the animated series "Batman: Caped Crusader" has been fully released on Prime Video. All ten episodes are available to viewers, continuing the noir story of Bruce Wayne and his fight against Gotham's crime. In the new episodes, Batman will face the Joker, the Riddler, Scarecrow, and other well-known adversaries.

The continuation has received predominantly positive reviews, although its ratings are currently lower than the first season. As of the time of writing, the rating on Rotten Tomatoes is 88% after 17 reviews, and on Metacritic, the show has not yet received enough reviews to form a rating.

Jamie Parker from CBR gave the continuation eight out of ten points and called it one of the best Batman series in the character's 87-year history. Josh Bell from Tom's Guide called the show "a witty, stylish, and artistically ambitious take" on such a frequently adapted character, while Daniel Kurland from Bloody Disgusting highlighted the touching story, comparable to the best episodes of "Batman" from 1992.

Critics also praise the new interpretation of the Joker, inspired by early Golden Age comics. Instead of an eccentric jester, viewers were shown a dark terrorist holding all of Gotham in fear. IGN specifically noted the episodes with Joker and Harley Quinn but criticized the superficial development of Bruce Wayne himself.

Among the negative reviews, Grace Randolph from Beyond the Trailer considered the changes made merely to distinguish the series from other adaptations to be unsuccessful, and Alexander Zablen from Comic Book Club called the pacing "turtlish."
