Graphics card prices continue to rise. Following NVIDIA's recent price increase for GDDR6 and GDDR7 memory, AMD is preparing to take a similar step. According to ChannelGate, the company has already notified its partners of the upcoming price increase for graphics accelerator memory kits.
It is reported that the new prices will come into effect next month and will apply to all AMD partners simultaneously. The increased costs are expected to be passed on to end-users, leading to another rise in graphics card prices.
According to the source, AMD had planned the increase a month ago but decided to temporarily postpone it, fearing a loss of market share amid competition with NVIDIA. Now, after its competitor has already adjusted prices for the GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards, the company has decided to implement the planned change.
According to ChannelGate, the cost of memory kits for GPUs will increase by at least 10%. Although the exact extent of NVIDIA's price increase has not been officially disclosed, it is expected to be at a similar level to maintain market parity.
The changes may most noticeably affect the Radeon RX 9000 lineup, which uses GDDR6 memory. Since these graphics cards are the basis of AMD's current product range, they are likely to feel the impact of the new prices more than others. The increase may also extend to previous generation models that use the same type of memory.
