According to Deadline, Samara Weaving ("Ready or Not", "Scream 6", "Babylon") has been cast as Emma Frost in the upcoming "X-Men" reboot.
Director Jake Schreier ("Thunderbolts"*) and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige conducted extensive auditions all summer, with the role of Emma Frost being one of the most challenging positions to cast. According to sources, the final tests took place immediately after July 4th, and Weaving's auditions were so convincing that they were impossible to overlook.
In Marvel comics, Emma Frost (the White Queen) debuted in 1980 as a villain from the Hellfire Club, but later became one of the leaders and key members of the X-Men. Frost is a powerful telepath and also possesses the ability to transform her body into organic diamond. In live-action cinema, the character was previously played by January Jones in "X-Men: First Class".
Lee Sung Jin ("Beef") and Joanna Calo ("The Bear") are working on the script for the new film. The premiere date for the reboot has not yet been announced, but Samara Weaving's casting will likely be the first in a series of upcoming cast announcements.
