"Marvel Has More Important Things to Do": Anson Mount on Black Bolt's Return
Anson Mount stated that he is ready to return to the role of Black Bolt in future Marvel projects. After the release of the film "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," the actor discussed the character with studio head Kevin Feige and offered his own ideas for the development of the silent king:
"Yes. My philosophy in this business is to walk through every open door. So far, that approach has served me well. I have my own ideas for the character, and after 'Doctor Strange,' we discussed them with Kevin. But I understand that Marvel has more important things to do right now."
Mount first played Black Bolt in the 2017 series "Inhumans," which was canceled after its first season due to low ratings and scathing reviews. Several years later, the actor returned to the role in "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," where he played an alternate version of the character from Earth-838.
According to Mount, Feige personally called him with the offer to return to the role:
"The conversation was basically, 'Hey, do you want to play a character from a canceled show again, and we'll pay you a bunch of money?' I said, 'Sure, buddy.' And I had a great time."
The Earth-838 version of Black Bolt died shortly after his appearance. However, the existence of the Multiverse allows Marvel to bring the hero back in one of its future projects. The studio has not yet revealed any official plans for an "Inhumans" reboot or Mount's further involvement in the MCU.
