On the Way to a Billion: Christopher Nolan's "Odyssey" Grosses $911 Million Worldwide
The film's success helped Universal become the first studio to earn $4 billion in 2026.
Although "Spider-Man: A New Day," another film starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, is already storming the top of the global box office, Christopher Nolan's epic "Odyssey" continues to attract new audiences to cinemas. In its third weekend, the film earned an additional $136.2 million worldwide ($51 million in the US and $85.2 million in international markets), bringing its total gross to $911 million.
This success allowed Universal to become the first film studio in 2026 to cross the $4 billion mark in total box office revenue, surpassing Disney. For Nolan himself, the third week of "Odyssey" in domestic release was the best of his career, outperforming the dynamics of "Oppenheimer" and "The Dark Knight."
A separate achievement of the release was the phenomenal success of the film in IMAX format. To date, "Odyssey" has grossed $221 million in IMAX worldwide, crossing the $200 million mark faster than any other film in history and rising to third place among the highest-grossing releases in the format of all time.
