GKIDS announced the return of the anime film "Your Name" to the big screens for its tenth anniversary. The remastered version of Makoto Shinkai's film will begin showing in cinemas in select countries on August 14, 2026, but there has been no information yet about a possible Russian release.
"Your Name" tells the story of Mitsuha, a high school girl from a small provincial town, and Taki, a high school boy living in Tokyo. One day, the teenagers, who are strangers to each other, discover that they periodically swap bodies. Trying to understand what is happening and adapt to each other's lives, the characters gradually grow closer, but something more profound lies behind their mysterious connection.
After its premiere in 2016, "Your Name" became a global phenomenon, grossing over $400 million worldwide. The film still holds the title of the highest-grossing original Japanese animated film, meaning a project not based on an existing manga or other popular franchise.
