PS3 emulator gets important update: ARM compatibility significantly expanded

RPCS3 developers have added RawSPU technology support to the ARM version of the emulator, making a number of games available on devices like modern MacBooks.

Developers of RPCS3, the most popular PlayStation 3 emulator, have expanded the compatibility of the version for ARM processors. It now supports games that use RawSPU technology, which was previously only available in builds for the x86 architecture.

RawSPU is direct access to the vector cores of the Cell processor. Emulating such games is considered particularly difficult, as it requires precise reproduction of the processor's registers and interrupts, and not just its general functionality.

Thanks to the update, games like Crysis and the Ratchet & Clank series are now available on devices with ARM chips, including modern MacBooks. Classic PlayStation games that ran through the PS3 environment also now launch.

Recently, RPCS3 developers announced that the emulator has achieved compatibility with 75% of the PS3 library, and the update has become another important step in the project's development.
