Activision Strengthens Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Server Protection on PlayStation Due to Cheater Wave

News 0

Activision has released a new update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, aimed at combating cheaters who have been severely disrupting the multiplayer mode in recent weeks.

Classic Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2 became available on PlayStation consoles on July 9, receiving updated servers. However, shortly after launch, players encountered a massive problem: malicious actors learned how to interfere with matches, kick users out of lobbies, block the ability to change classes, reset account levels, and even forcibly assign non-existent 15th prestige to characters.

Despite previous security measures, a well-known cheater under the nickname C Isn't Sharp continued to exploit vulnerabilities and interfere with other players. Now, Activision has announced additional changes to the security system and verification of accounts with incorrect prestige levels.

In an official statement on August 2, the company announced that it had released server updates to enhance match security, while also beginning to verify accounts with suspicious prestige values.

Developers warned that after being forcibly removed from a match, some users might see an account ban notification. According to Activision, in most cases, this is due to the peculiarities of outdated systems used in older games in the series and does not mean automatic application of sanctions.

If, after such a message appears, the player can reconnect to the servers, it means their account has successfully passed verification and no further action is required.

Otherwise, the inability to re-enter means that the account has been penalized for intentionally obtaining invalid prestige levels or other violations of the user agreement, including account manipulation.
