Age of Empires developers are making three expansions for strategy games - about Varangians, Vikings, Poles, and more

World's Edge announced work on several expansions for the Age of Empires franchise games. They will add new civilizations, scenarios, and campaigns.

For Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, the DLC The Viking Sagas is being prepared. It includes three civilizations – Danes, Saxons, and Varangians. Players will be able to use new units and complete campaigns about Harald's adventures, who leaves Norway and sets off in search of wealth and glory in foreign lands.

Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition will receive the expansion The Baltic Powers – the game will feature Danes (Dano-Norwegian Union) and Poles (Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth). The developers are preparing 25 new maps, two challenging scenarios, and other content:

Defend the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth from relentless invaders in the "Storming the Commonwealth" scenario, throwing winged hussar units into the thick of battle. Capture and hold villages to increase your resource supply and population in an attempt to survive, or lead a desperate Spanish defense against a British offensive in the "Havana Heat" scenario.

For Age of Empires IV, the Raiders of the North expansion is being developed, which will introduce Vikings and Scots to the game, as well as add two new biomes – "Scottish moorlands" and "summer tundra."

Viking civilizations will have access to raiding mechanics and heroic sagas, while the Scots will have tower houses and an economy built around highland cattle farming.

An expanded "Crucible" mode will also appear: players will be offered four missions and a deeper development system with new biomes and upgrades. "Crucible" challenges can be played solo or with a friend.
