Johnny Blaze or Danny Ketch? Insider Reveals Which Ghost Rider Ryan Gosling Will Play
It seems Marvel Studios is going for the most famous version of the fiery anti-hero.
Ryan Gosling will play Johnny Blaze in Marvel Studios' "Ghost Rider" film. This was reported by insider Jeff Sneider, who clarified that there will be no other bearers of this name in the picture:
"I'm told Johnny Blaze will be the only Ghost Rider in this movie. Filming is planned to take place on location in California, Nevada, and Oregon."
Johnny Blaze is a stunt motorcyclist who made a deal with Mephisto to save his adoptive father. As a result, the hero became bound to the Spirit of Vengeance and gained the ability to transform into Ghost Rider. Blaze was previously played by Nicolas Cage in the 2007 and 2012 films. The series "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." featured another version of the character – Robbie Reyes, played by Gabriel Luna.
Marvel Studios announced the new adaptation at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. Along with Gosling, "Deadpool & Wolverine" director Shawn Levy is working on the project, and Jonathan Tropper is writing the screenplay. According to Kevin Feige, the actor himself came to the studio with a concept based on specific comics, but details have not yet been revealed.
The premiere of "Ghost Rider" is scheduled for 2028. The exact release date has not yet been announced.
