Superhero Ring as a Bottle Opener: DC Studios Shows Two New Clips from "Lanterns"

News 0

DC Studios and HBO have unveiled two new clips for the "Lanterns" series. The first is a montage of old and new footage, accompanied by the voiceover of Hal Jordan, voiced by Kyle Chandler, reciting the Green Lantern oath.

The second clip shows an extended version of a scene previously glimpsed in the trailer. In it, Hal uses his power ring to create a bottle opener from green energy. The episode demonstrates one of the Lanterns' abilities — the power to materialize almost any object through imagination and willpower. Both clips have not been released publicly on YouTube but are available via links on Twitter/X: (clip 1, clip 2).

The series' events will unfold in the small town of Rushville, Nebraska. Experienced Hal Jordan and newcomer John Stewart will begin investigating a murder that may have extraterrestrial origins. Gradually, the local crime will lead the heroes to a larger conflict threatening the entire DC universe.

John Stewart is played by Aaron Pierre. The series will also feature Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro, and Kelly Macdonald as local sheriff Kerry. The cast also includes Garret Dillahunt, Jason Ritter, and Nicole Ari Parker.

Chris Mundy serves as the showrunner for the eight-episode project. Damon Lindelof and comic book writer Tom King worked alongside him on the story. "Lanterns" premieres on August 17 on HBO Max.
