Marvel Studios continues preparations for the reboot of the "X-Men" franchise, and new details have emerged online regarding the search for actors for the updated mutant team.
According to insider Jeff Sneider, the list of contenders for the role of mutant leader Charles Xavier has been narrowed down to two candidates — Bill Skarsgård ("It", "Nosferatu") and Tom Pelphrey ("Ozark", "Banshee"). Previously, Patrick Wilson ("The Conjuring") was also mentioned among possible performers, but, according to new information, his candidacy is no longer being considered.
So far, only two actresses from the upcoming "Mutant Saga" have been officially confirmed. Weaving herself was cast as Emma Frost, and Sadie Sink debuted as Jean Grey in the film "Spider-Man: A New Day". Marvel is expected to reveal new project participants during the annual D23 exhibition, which will take place from August 14 to 16, 2026.
The new version of "X-Men" will be directed by "Thunderbolts" director Jake Schreier. The start dates for filming and the film's premiere have not yet been announced. Before the reboot, viewers will once again see Professor X played by Patrick Stewart in "Avengers: Doctor Doom", which will be released on December 18, 2026.
