Marvel is gradually bringing back characters from Netflix series to the screens. In the second season of "Born Again," Krysten Ritter returned as Jessica Jones, and in the third, Luke Cage and Danny Rand are expected to appear, played by Mike Colter and Finn Jones, respectively. Colleen Wing could also have joined the former Defenders, but Jessica Henwick, who played the role in "Iron Fist," "The Defenders," and "Luke Cage," refused to return, as she did not see sufficient grounds for continuing the character's story.
Henwick reminded that in the finale of "Iron Fist," Colleen gained new abilities and continued to fight crime alongside Misty Knight:
"I've said many times over the years that I would love to come back. I know everyone else is coming back this season, but I won't be there. We did actually discuss my potential involvement. However, Colleen's story ended with her riding off into the sunset. She got a beautiful ending."
According to the actress, a new appearance should justify breaking Colleen's happy ending and offer her a full storyline:
"I'm not interested in bringing her back if the story isn't worth taking away the happiness Colleen found. It's clear that in the series, she can't just stay happy: if the character returns, it means something went wrong. I would love to play her again, but it needs the right story. I don't want to just stand somewhere in the background."
Earlier, Henwick refused to play another Marvel character in the film "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" because she wanted to keep the possibility of returning to the role of Colleen Wing. Thus, the actress does not completely close the door to the cinematic universe, but does not plan to appear in the third season of "Born Again."
The premiere of the continuation is expected in spring 2027.
