Andrew Garfield is still ready to return to the role of Spider-Man if the new project offers audiences a completely unexpected version of the superhero's story. The actor spoke about this on The Discourse podcast from The Playlist.
Garfield doesn't yet know exactly what such a film could be, but a regular continuation of Peter Parker's adventures is not enough for him:
"I don't know. I really don't know. The project would have to be very, very unusual, very strange, and completely unconventional. I would want something absolutely unexpected – a genre of Spider-Man story that audiences haven't seen yet, something completely off the beaten path."
As one possible option, the actor suggested sending Peter Parker on a journey:
"I don't even know what it could be. Maybe a road movie."
Garfield played the superhero in Sony's duology — "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." In 2021, the actor returned to the role in "Spider-Man: No Way Home," where he appeared alongside Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire. No new projects featuring his version of Peter Parker have been announced yet.
