Publisher EXP UP has unveiled the first teaser for Cross Gate Mobile – a mobile version of the cult MMORPG Cross Gate, which will be released on smartphones under official Square Enix license. Pre-registration is already open on the official website.
The creators promise to preserve the core features of the original game while adapting it for modern devices. Cross Gate Mobile will feature updated graphics, touch-screen controls, turn-based battles with an elemental system, pet collection and development, co-op boss battles, PvP arenas, and tournaments.
In addition to combat, the project will focus on daily life in the fantasy world. Players will be able to mine ore and herbs, craft equipment, fish, farm, and cook. Player-to-player trading will be part of the in-game economy.
Open testing of Cross Gate Mobile will begin on August 13, 2026, in select Southeast Asian countries. The developers have not yet revealed the full list of regions or the global release dates.
The original Cross Gate was released on PC on July 26, 2001. The game was developed by Dwango studio and published by Enix – a company that later merged with Square and became part of the history of the current Square Enix.
