Embark Begins Testing Its Own Anti-Cheat System Elytra in The Finals
Following established practice, Embark first tests new technologies in The Finals and then transfers them to Arc Raiders.
Embark Studios has begun testing its proprietary anti-cheat system, Elytra, in the online shooter The Finals. The new feature is part of update 11.3.0 and is currently only available for limited testing.
In the initial phase, Elytra is being tested by a small group of invited players, as well as the studio's technology partners, including GeForce Now and Microsoft. For most The Finals users, the new anti-cheat is already being installed automatically, but it operates exclusively in passive mode and does not block cheaters — the system only collects data for further tuning.
Embark has not yet disclosed the technical details of Elytra but promises to reveal more about the new development's capabilities closer to its full launch. A wider rollout of the system is planned with the release of update 11.6, when the anti-cheat will gradually be activated for more players.
The development of its own solution is linked to the studio's ongoing fight against cheaters. Currently, Embark's anti-cheat infrastructure includes several technologies. Arc Raiders simultaneously uses Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC), Denuvo Anti-Cheat, and the Anybrain AI player behavior analysis system, which is based on machine learning. Denuvo acts as an additional protective layer at the operating system kernel level, complementing EAC's capabilities, while Anybrain AI analyzes telemetry and identifies players with unnatural metrics.
