A few hours before the premiere of the anime series "Star Wars: Visions Presents - The Ninth Jedi," Lucasfilm released two episodes of the "Star Wars: Visions" anthology for free on its official YouTube channel.
The first episode made available to viewers was "The Ninth Jedi" – the fifth episode of the first season of "Visions," released in 2021. The plot introduces viewers to Kara, the daughter of master weaponsmith Lah Zhima. The girl must deliver lightsabers created by her father to a group of warriors who call themselves Jedi, but on the way, she encounters forces pursuing her.
The second short film released was the episode "The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope" from the third season of the anthology. In it, Kara finds herself far from her allies and, while hiding from Jedi hunters, meets a mysterious droid guarding an abandoned ship.
Both works were created by the Japanese studio Production I.G under the direction of Kenji Kamiyama. They serve as a prequel to the new series, which will continue Kara's story after the events of the short films.
"Star Wars: Visions Presents - The Ninth Jedi" will be released on Disney+ on August 5. The first season will include eight episodes.
