Suddenly: After a cinematic flop, "Supergirl" tops digital rental charts

Despite modest box office results, "Supergirl" had a strong start in digital distribution. For the week of July 27 to August 2, the film took first place on the Fandango at Home chart, which accounts for revenue from the purchase and rental of digital releases.

The film starring Milly Alcock surpassed the sci-fi thriller "Disclosure Day" and "Scary Movie" 2026. In addition, the "Supergirl + Superman" movie bundle took tenth place in the ranking.

The digital release of "Supergirl" occurred 32 days after its theatrical debut — one of the shortest windows among recent DC films. However, Fandango does not disclose specific revenue figures, so the first place on the chart cannot be directly compared to the film's box office results.

In theaters, "Supergirl" grossed approximately $124 million against a production budget of $170 million. Including promotion and distribution costs, the film failed to recoup its investment. Critics also gave the film a lukewarm reception: its Rotten Tomatoes rating is 53%, while the audience score is noticeably higher at 73%.
