The studio also had to cancel a multiplayer project in the Halo universe.

Following recent reports about the future of Halo Studios after the release of Halo: Campaign Evolved, new details have emerged about the game's difficult development process. Renowned insider Rebs Gaming revealed that the project's development was accompanied by technical difficulties, technology changes, cancellation of some developments, and management problems.

According to the insider, since 2023, Halo Studios has been working with Abstraction studio, which helped the team transition to the Unreal Engine 5. In addition to migrating to the new technology, Abstraction was involved in implementing a number of features, including support for four-player co-op.

However, the studio was allegedly subsequently removed from the project. Rebs Gaming's source claims that all materials created by Abstraction were completely discarded, and Halo Studios developers had to re-implement the necessary mechanics. Because of this, Abstraction was not even mentioned in the game's final credits. According to the insider, this decision also became one of the reasons for the large number of technical errors in the release version.

Additional difficulties arose during the transition to Unreal Engine 5. Studio management allegedly expected that game assets previously created on the Blam engine could be transferred to the new technology without much trouble. In practice, this proved impossible – all assets had to be created from scratch, which led to the disruption of several internal development deadlines.

The insider also stated that project management problems led to the cancellation of one of the Halo multiplayer projects. Constant deadline postponements resulted in massive team overhauls during the final stage of Halo: Campaign Evolved development.

Furthermore, it was allegedly due to a lack of time that the developers abandoned in-game engine cutscenes and replaced them with pre-rendered videos.
