Elden Ring fan decided to make his life harder - started playing the game in the Windows taskbar preview window

While waiting for a new project from FromSoftware, some players don't get bored, but instead find various ways to diversify their next run through their favorite game. While some experiment with controllers - using bananas, musical instruments, and more - others practice unconventional ways of launching the game.

Recently, an Elden Ring fan under the nickname shadoRrealm shared with the community his (joking) vision of "the only true hardcore way to play Souls games." He suggests minimizing the game, hovering the cursor over it, and then playing, using only the image that appears in the Windows taskbar preview window as a guide.

This is what "hardcore gameplay" in Elden Ring looks like - if you look closely, you can indeed see familiar images, but it's clearly problematic to fully assess the combat situation in this mode (he published the recording in 144p):

A discussion participant, Acrobatic-Stay-9072, joked that this is still cheating and one should go further:

Turn off the monitor, sound, and all that, then pick up a guitar and play the game without taking damage. That's the only hardcore way to play Souls :).

At the end of this month, FromSoftware plans to conduct a network test of its new project, The Duskbloods. This project is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 console.
