Australian actor Uli Latukefu has been cast as Ganon in the live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda. Kyle Buchanan, a journalist for The New York Times, was the first to report this, and the information was later confirmed by Deadline.
Latukefu is known for the series "Young Rock," where he played a young Dwayne Johnson. He also appeared in the films "Alien: Covenant," "Black Adam," and "MaXXXine." According to Deadline, the actor has signed a contract to participate in several films.
This detail points to Nintendo and Sony's larger plans for The Legend of Zelda. While the companies have officially announced only one film so far, the long-term contract suggests that the creators are already anticipating the possibility of sequels and the character's return.
Filming took place in New Zealand from November 2025 to April 2026, but so far the creators have only officially introduced the main cast. Link is played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, and the role of Princess Zelda went to Bo Bragason.
The film is directed by Wes Ball, known for the "Maze Runner" trilogy and "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes." Producers include series creator Shigeru Miyamoto from Nintendo and Avi Arad from Sony Pictures.
The Legend of Zelda film will be released in theaters on April 30, 2027.
