The creators of the anime "Made in Abyss" have unveiled a full trailer for the film "The Secret of the Awakening".
The plot will continue the events of the second season, "The Golden City of the Scorching Sun". Riko, Reg, Nanachi, and Faputa will leave the sixth layer and venture even deeper – into a practically unexplored area of the Abyss, from which returning to the surface is no longer possible.
Two new characters also appeared in the trailer: Tepaste is voiced by Sumire Morohoshi, known for her role as Emma in "The Promised Neverland", and Kravali's voice is provided by Takanori Hoshino.
The main musical theme of the film is the composition "Chain of the Abyss", which plays in the second half of the trailer. It was written by the franchise's regular composer Kevin Penkin, and the vocal part was performed by VTuber Mori Calliope.
Kinema Citrus is once again responsible for the production. Masayuki Kojima, who directed the two seasons of the series and previous films in the franchise, served as director. The screenplay was written by Hideyuki Kurata, and character design is handled by Yuka Kuroda and Kazuchika Kise from Production I.G.
The premiere of the film "Made in Abyss: The Secret of the Awakening" will take place in Japan on October 23, 2026. International release dates have not yet been announced.
