Farewell to Geralt Postponed: Netflix Delays Release of The Witcher Season 5 - Media Reports

Viewers who want to know how Geralt's adventures on Netflix will end will have to be patient.

The fifth and final season of The Witcher series will not be released before 2027. This is reported by the portal What’s on Netflix, citing its own sources. The exact release date could not be determined by the publication, and the streaming service has not yet commented on the postponement.

Previously, it was expected that the final episodes would appear in the fall of 2026 — a year after the premiere of the fourth season. Filming was completed back in September 2025, so the creators had enough time for post-production.

The plans, apparently, changed relatively recently. In January 2026, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich still claimed that the fifth season would be released by the end of the year, and Netflix mentioned the series among its upcoming new releases for 2026.

It is curious that in 2027, CD Projekt Red also plans to release a large-scale expansion, “Ballads of the Past,” for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The close release of the two projects would allow simultaneously attracting additional attention to both the game and the series, but there is no data that Netflix and CD Projekt coordinated their plans.
