According to Deadline, Christopher Nolan's "Odyssey" has reached $1 billion in worldwide box office three weeks after its premiere. US and Canadian cinemas accounted for $429.7 million, while the rest of the world brought in another $570.3 million for the film.
"Odyssey" became the director's third work to cross the billion-dollar mark. Previously, "The Dark Knight" and "The Dark Knight Rises" achieved similar results. The latter currently holds the title of Nolan's highest-grossing film with $1.085 billion, but "Odyssey" is expected to surpass it in the near future.
The film was released in South Korea on August 5, will reach China on August 14, and will appear in Japanese cinemas on September 11. Meanwhile, according to Deadline, IMAX screenings in Los Angeles and New York are practically sold out until October.
"Odyssey" became the fifth film of 2026 to earn over $1 billion. Previously, "Minecraft in Cinema 2," "Michael," "Toy Story 5," and "Spider-Man: A New Day" crossed this threshold. The latter, with over $1.188 billion, currently holds the title of the highest-grossing release of the year.
In total, "Odyssey" became the 65th film in the history of worldwide box office whose gross exceeded $1 billion.
