Avatar Studios Canceled Zuko Film and Mysterious Murder of Last Dragons - Media

Avatar Studios' second feature-length project was supposed to continue the story of the Fire Nation after the defeat of Ozai.

Avatar Studios was developing a full-length animated film about an adult Zuko, but later abandoned the project. According to Knight Edge Media, it was supposed to be the studio's second feature-length work after "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and had reached the stage of voice recording and preliminary visualization of individual scenes. Sources of the publication claim that production was halted after the decision to focus all efforts on completing Aang's story.

The plot of the unmade film allegedly began with the mysterious murder of Ran and Shaw – the last known dragons and ancient masters of firebending, who tested Zuko and Aang in the third season of the original series. The ruler of the Fire Nation was to begin an investigation to find out who was capable of killing such powerful creatures. At the same time, an unknown assailant attempted to assassinate Uncle Iroh, and Zuko himself became the next target.

The creators intended to combine a detective story with political intrigue and show how the young ruler deals with a threat within his own state after the end of the Hundred Year War.

Zuko was to be voiced by Steven Yeun, who later got the same role in "Avatar: The Last Airbender." According to sources, the actor was initially invited specifically for the solo film about the former prince, which may explain the relatively small number of his lines in Aang's story.

During Comic-Con 2026, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko confirmed that Avatar Studios is currently not working on new feature films. The team has switched to series and has already launched another unannounced project into production.
