Jeffrey Thorne, producer and writer of "Batman: Caped Crusader," confirmed in an interview with The Direct that a third season has not yet been greenlit. According to Thorne, the creators want to continue the story and are ready to return to work with the full team, but they cannot launch production independently:
"Call our bosses and tell them you want more. We want to make it, but we don't make the decisions here. The whole team will come back if we get the go-ahead."
Thorne also declined to discuss possible plots, villains, or other developments. Until Prime Video management approves new episodes, the creators have nothing to announce:
"There is no season three right now. None of the people who make those decisions have said 'yes' to us yet. We definitely would like to make it, but that's all I can tell you for now."
"Batman: Caped Crusader" had a difficult journey to its premiere. Initially, the animated series was created for HBO Max, but in August 2022, Warner Bros. Discovery refused to release it during a massive cost-cutting effort. Warner Bros. Animation continued production and offered the project to other services. In March 2023, Amazon acquired the rights to broadcast, immediately ordering two seasons.
The first season was released in August 2024, and the second reached screens in late July 2026. The series received 93% positive reviews from critics and 70% from viewers on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite the good ratings, after the second season's release, the initial agreement concluded, so a new order from Prime Video will be required for a continuation.
