A soulslike dating sim where wrong answers instantly kill the hero has been released
Players are already anticipating the sequel to Kobayakawa-san is a Soulslike.
Japanese indie developer Hokuto has released an unusual free visual novel, Kobayakawa-san is a Soulslike, which turns a romantic date into a real battle in the style of FromSoftware games.
The game is available in a browser via PLiCy, and the PC version can be obtained for free via BOOTH. As the name suggests, the project is inspired by soulslikes, but instead of swords, shields, and huge bosses, the player has to confront their own beloved.
According to the plot, the main character decides to spend time after classes with Kobayakawa-san. However, attempts to win her favor with compliments or flirting do not work here. Everything changes when the girl finds out that the hero was spending time with another girl.
After this, Kobayakawa-san transforms into the "Twilight Inquisitor" and begins to ask the hero very frank questions. Each of them must be answered in just a few seconds.
The mechanics are built almost like in classic soulslikes: the player has access to a light attack, heavy attack, parry, and dodge roll. You need to carefully monitor the girl's emotions and choose the appropriate reaction. A wrong choice leads to the "YOU DIED" screen familiar to FromSoftware fans.
However, death does not mean the end of the game — you can return to the challenge and try again as many times as needed to finally find the correct reaction to each question.
