Arc System Works has released the first major update for the PC version of the fighting game MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, fixing a number of performance issues that plagued players after its release.
The game was released on PC and PlayStation 5 last week, but the optimization quality of the two versions differed significantly. On PS5, the project runs stably, while on computers, some players experienced problems with maintaining 60 FPS, sudden performance drops, and increased CPU load. After user complaints, the developers promptly prepared fixes.
The update was preceded by short technical work, after which the patch became available to players.
The developers focused primarily on reducing CPU load:
- fixed an issue where the CPU could remain heavily loaded throughout the game's startup process
- eliminated additional load caused by periodic audio processing during matches
The developers also found the cause of sudden performance drops. The game regularly checked available audio devices, and these unnecessary checks could lead to sharp frame rate drops. The problem has now been eliminated.
In addition, a separate bug has been fixed that could cause the frame rate to drop when selecting certain screen resolutions.
The patch affected not only performance. In particular, a problem with combat settings has been fixed: after restarting the game, some parameters related to customization items or colors could reset to default values.
For online lobbies, the developers fixed a bug where changing the display of attack buttons to action icons could make some buttons inoperable during mini-games in the open lobby.
Finally, the update improves the crash reporting system, which should help developers find and fix stability issues faster.
