Worms Returns After 30 Years - The Creator Himself Expanded the Game for Free

Worms received an official free expansion more than 30 years after the original game's release. The Expansion Pack for Worms: The Director's Cut on Amiga was prepared by Andy Davidson himself, the creator of the series.

The pack includes over 40 new maps from the Amiga community, more than 50 new sound effect sets, and 10 terrain types. Davidson also thanked Jeff Minter from Llamasoft for permission to use a map inspired by his work.

Additional materials appeared on the Worm.net website: an album with nine remixes of Bjorn Lynne's musical theme and an online tool for creating custom maps, landscapes, environment sets, and teams.

Back in 2024, Davidson announced that he wanted to create an update together with the Amiga demoscene from around the world. The official expansion pack was the result of this work.

The creator also did not rule out a physical collector's edition. When asked about a boxed version, he replied: "Never say never."
